  1. Take Action/

Protect the Planet

Objectives

Repair, Reuse, Share

Repair, reuse, and share devices instead of buying new. Support right-to-repair laws and companies that build things to last.

Choose Longevity

Choose products designed for longevity, not landfill. Recycle or donate electronics responsibly. Keep e-waste out of landfills.

Demand Accountability

Demand tech companies take responsibility for their environmental impact. Challenge planned obsolescence and fast tech culture in your community.

Support Sustainable Policy

Support policies and organizations that promote sustainability and environmental justice in your community.

What You Can Do

Repair instead of replace

Use DIY resources like iFixit (repair guides + parts) and support the Right to Repair movement to extend the life of your devices.

Buy refurbished and secondhand

Choose certified refurbished tech from platforms like Back Market, Swappa, or local repair shops instead of new devices.

Drop off old electronics at certified e-Stewards or R2 recyclers, or donate to groups like Computers with Causes.

Choose durable products

Support companies with long-lasting, repairable devices like Framework laptops, Fairphone, or Purism (modular, sustainable tech).

Challenge planned obsolescence

Join campaigns like the Restart Project or Repair Café that fight fast-tech throwaway culture.

Reduce e-waste at home

Share or lend devices through local community groups, libraries of things, or platforms like Freecycle.

Support environmental organizations

Back groups like Greenpeace, 350.org, or Environmental Working Group that push tech companies toward accountability.

Advocate for sustainable policy

Support local and national legislation (like the EU’s Circular Economy Action Plan or U.S. Right to Repair bills) that promote repairability and environmental justice.
